RIP: Vince Young

Vince Young has been named the next cover athlete for Madden 08, The Craptacular Edition (ok, I added that last part). Why is it always the young ones?!?!? Poor guy, had a blossoming career started. For more details about the Madden curse, go here.

Why have all the last 5 Madden's been craptacular? You would know if you played it.

Uh... I've played the last few and they aren't OMG I MUST HAVE IT... but they've been fairly decent. But then again... I'm not the football fiend you are.

So... why is Madden 08, Craptacular? :) it's almost like you could write a whole entry on it! :P

Ahhh I see your point. My PREDICTION is that Madden 08 will be craptacular due to my experience with previous iterations. I would love to be wrong. However, the game doesn't come out until August so we won't know until then.

Actually, as much as I'm usually a smartass (YA RLY!)... I'm being totally serious here... what do you find wrong with previous installments of Madden?

I only have a couple of complaints over Madden 07 for the Wii. First was that the Wii controls weren't really mature enough yet, though I'm torn between saying "They'll get it down within the next couple of years" and "why not really invest in it instead of making the wii controls feel tacked on". Since 08 is coming out in Aug.. I don't have a lot of hope for this iteration either.

Next is that seems like even if I choose a crappy team I can usually win... which diminishes the play experience somewhat.

Finally, I'd like for there to be a game that can be somewhere in between a game for noobs and a game for those that can name career stats for Tom Brady. I like football... it's fun... but when I have the playbook... it's pretty much a shot in the dark. instead of career mode, I'd like a coach mode... or maybe i'm asking a game to be wikipedia... I dunno.

Just my 1/50th of a dollar.

FYI, via Joystiq:

Video games were one of the first things blamed for the recent shootings at Virginia Tech. Dr. Phil and a certain Floridiot lawyer were two of the loudest voices, while an article in the online version of the Washing Post briefly mentioned Cho was a Counter-Strike player in high school. Not a big deal in our eyes, but to the general public if Cho even looked at a video game, it's case-closed.

After police searched Cho's dorm room, however, it seems he didn't own any video games at all. No murder simulators or gun training programs, not even a copy of Tetris. If video games didn't teach him these skills, where did they come from?! Oh noes!

We've posted our feelings about violent video games. Hopefully this lack of evidence will silence the anti-gaming pundits for a while.

I don't care too enumerate the mountain of flaws that the Madden series contains. The wounds are too deep. Suffice it to say that the more one is into football the less they are going to like Madden. A quick google search will provide you with the tawdry list you seek.
